Scope and Content of Collection

The Mary Harrison Dumsch papers consist of personal records and published writings collected by Dumsch by and about the life and work of Michigan-born writer Jim Harrison. The Dumsch collection, in part, duplicates materials found in the Jim Harrison papers, but also includes many unique items.

The collection includes handwritten correspondence by Harrison, primarily to his mother, one early letter to his sister Judy; promotional materials from publishers, producers, and event coordinators; photographs including 3 unique early images of Harrison as a young man; copies of magazines, calendars, and other publications that include Harrison's writings; and newspaper clippings of interviews and articles about Harrison. Biography

Mary Harrison Dumsch is the youngest of five children of Winfield Sprague Harrison and Norma Olivia (Wahlgren/Walgren) Harrison. She is the sister of Michigan poet and author Jim Harrison (born James Thomas Harrison).
