Transcript	[Page 1] Pamlico Sound Feb. 11th Dear Mother I have got some news to write this time there has been a fierce Battle fought --- and I was in the most dangerous part of it --- and come off without a scratch but I have got the mumps pretty hard now so that I can’t write much there were a great many killed on both sides and several from our Reg’t but more were killed from our Co two were wounded there were more at least 3000 prisoners taken (a pretty good haul werent it) the Bullets came like hale stones where
