Transcript	[Page 1] Chicago, 23rd Nov. '60 My Dear Wife , I reached Chicago yesterday morning. And upon waking found Vice Pres't Hamlin close by me on his way to visit Mr. Lincoln, by invitation, to consult, it is supposed, in respect to the Cabinet, and the policy of the new Administration. Mr. Hamlin being a decided friend of Mr. Welles, and heartily agreeing with us as to party policy, I was quite glad to meet him. In the afternoon he presented me to Mr. Lincoln & wife and to my surprise found Mr. & Mrs. Pratt in the room apparently in charge of the ceremonies. The
