Dear Mother,

I have just finished my washing clean sow I thought I would wright and let you know that I am well and sow is the rest of the boyes from our County The fiftieth regiment is full we have formed two new companeys Thear is 150 boys in our companey, about thirty from St. Lawrence They are all new recruitis[recruits] wee expect to be transfered to The 19' enginers They expect to stay hear This winter we have a nuf to eat and good water we drill six hours evry day except Saturday in the afternoon and Sunday Mr. Simpson has not forgut his old Traid Thear was heavy fireing on battle lines last night and to day but we have not heard from thear [text strikethrough][all the old Saldiers that I hear]
