Before me Louis Petit Notary Public duly commissioned and sworn in and for and residing in the Parish of Iberville.

Personally came and appeared Francis Duplessis Esquire residing in the said Parish of Iberville, who did declare that he has made, nominated and appointed Mr. John K. West of the Parish and City of New Orleans, his true and lawful attorney, for him and in his name and stead, and to the use of the said Constituent, to do execute and sign, in favor of the union Bank of Louisiana  a special mortgage [inserted in left margin] on the twenty two slaves hereinafter named and described, to wit: 1. Pierre negroman aged about forty five or fifty years  2. Violet negrowoman aged about thirty three years and her Four children  3. Washington aged ten years  4. Magdeleine aged eight years  5. Eliza aged five years and  6. Charity aged three years  7. Sally a negro woman aged thirty eight years, and her three children  8. Abraham aged seven years  9. Viney aged five years  10. William aged three years  11. Philip a negro man aged about forty eight years 12. Fanny aged about thirty two years, and her child  13. An infant aged one year  14. Dan a negro man age thirty five years  15. Hunter a negro man aged forty four years  16. Dolly negro woman aged forty years  17. Rose aged twenty years  18. Caroline aged twenty one years and her child 19. Julia aged Three years,  20. Peggy aged twenty eight years and her child Polly aged four years and 22. Salomon a negro Boy aged about eighteen years, all slaves for life  The said mortgage being for the purpose of replacing a certain number out of the thirty one slaves which are mortgaged in favor of the said Union [inserted in left margin] Bank of Louisiana as security for stock in the said Bank, in two acts of mortgaged before Adolphe Mazureau Esquire Notary Public [inserted above] in New Orleans the one passed on the twentieth day of March in the year eighteen hundred and thirty three, and the other on the twenty eighth day of August in the same year and also for the purpose of obtaining from the said Union Bank a release of mortgage on a
