About this collection

In 2006, the Council of Michigan Foundations led an innovative partnership with StoryCorps, Michigan Radio and the Johnson Center for Philanthropy to create an oral history of Michigan philanthropy. The first series of audio interviews consists of conversations between philanthropic leaders who have enhanced Michigan’s nonprofit sector.

In 2010, the Council of Michigan Foundations, the Johnson Center for Philanthropy, and the GVSU Library Special Collections & Archives continued to build the collection and document the history of philanthropy in Michigan. This second series of videotaped interviews is conducted by an oral history expert and is biographically focused on individual philanthropic leaders.
